Weather Information

Since
we are in the Southern Appalachians, we have a climate far different
from most of Georgia.
In
the summer highs are usually in the low to mid 80s with 90 degrees
uncommon. Lows usually range from the mid to low 60s to the upper
50s. During early and late summer lows in the 40s occur occasionally.
The
annual rainfall is usually between 50 and 60 inches. Most of
this comes as rain. Quick showers are common; long rainy periods
are rare.
Winter
is the wet season. However, a day without seeing the sun is rare.
Snow -- yes we get snow every winter, usually less than 10" per
year. (We had 16" in the Blizzard of 1993) The snow is almost
always gone within a day or two. We have two ski areas within
an hours drive. Aspen they are not, but they are close. Better
skiing
is available in the high mountains of North Carolina.
